Burbrook - The Story

When we decided to begin breeding Cavaliers, we needed to come up with a kennel name. Nothing of interest came to mind, even though I tried putting both our names together, or spelling one of them backwards, as some people do, and trying to use our kids names seemed too unwieldy. I then tried to think of a common denominator that both Bill & I shared, when the brainwave hit me.

We both grew up in London, Ontario, and when we began dating as teenagers, we discovered we had both lived on the same street. Bill's family had come from Scotland when he was 5 years old and they rented a house on Burbrook Place. His parents worked nearby and they lived there for several years. My family moved from there when I was 2 years old, my father opening his own variety store in the south end of town. Although our families never knew each other at the time, it made for interesting conversation when we did finally put the story together.

This then, was the name we applied for, and Burbrook Cavaliers became a registered kennel name with the Canadian Kennel Club on June 6, 1995.
